being responsible for strengthening Action Against Hunger’s relationship with institutional donors in Washington DC, as a member of the Action Against Hunger International Donor Relations Unit.

The Donor Relations Officer (DRO) will be based in Washington DC and will be tasked with representation duties with the main USA based institutional donors. The DRO assists to define and implements a join institutional fundraising strategy throughout the Action Against Hunger network, with primary responsibility for USA based donors.


Key activities in your role will include
  • Developing and implementing Action Against Hunger's strategy for engaging with USAID & BPRM
  • Pro-actively developing and managing the relationship with institutional donors to ensure the expansion of the existing funding portfolio, in line with Action Against Hunger’s country and thematic strategic priorities and the donor engagement strategy.
  • Developing, updating and improving donor-specific tools, systems and procedures to ensure responsiveness to donor's priorities, issues and requirements
  • Contributing to define and implement a join institutional fundraising strategy among Action Against Hunger network.
  • Providing guidance for Action Against Hunger International Network in drafting concept notes, proposals and/or budgets for the continuation of funds, future funding opportunities, or for new project proposals.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?

You’re a dedicated professional

  • You have more than 3 years of experience working with a humanitarian or development organization.
  • You have Master’s in a field related to social sciences, development or public health.

You’re an expert in managing donor relations

  • You can build strategic relationships and partnerships to develop further opportunities for an organization.
  • You have worked in emergencies or development settings and have a solid understanding of humanitarian principles and current global sectorial issues.

You're flexible, adaptable, dynamic and enthusiastic

  • You can coordinate deadline driven projects with various stakeholders.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills including demonstration of cultural awareness, diplomacy, and tact.
  • You can work independently and under tight deadlines.
  • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • You are passionate about Action Against Hunger's mission.
