You'll contribute to ending world hunger by ...

providing technical support in Social Behavior Change (SBC) to Action Against Hunger (AAH) countries offices and to humanitarian and governmental entities through the Technical Rapid Response mechanism in order to improve overall emergency nutrition response.

Location:  60-75% deployment to emergency locations and country offices

Base locations: preference to Nairobi/Kenya, homebased considered

Key activities in your role will include
  • Providing technical training, strategic advice, and operational support on Social and Behavior Change relating to Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), sanitation and hygiene and nutrition, and Food Security and Livelihood.
  • Ensuring adequate coordination for SBC is in place through either establishing and leading or providing substantial support to the AAH country team, Nutrition and WaSH clusters, or SBC technical working group.
  • Conducting formative research and mentoring partners and key actors on the use of formative research finding.
  • Supporting AAH country office teams or Tech RRT partners to develop SBC strategies.
  • Designing appropriate and evidence-based SBC response plans.
  • Assessing capacity building needs and leading training initiatives across AAH country team or Tech RRT partners.
  • Working with the AHH and Tech RRT partner technical advisors, developing relevant integrated SBC messages and behaviors to focus on during interventions.
  • Monitoring and evaluating SBC activities.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?

You have:

  • Education in Human Nutrition, Behavior Change, Public Health, Sociology, Anthropology, Development or related field; Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience in the context of SBC, health and hygiene promotion, nutrition or CMAM.
  • A minimum of 5 years previous work in programs overseas with an international humanitarian organization.
  • A minimum of 5 years previous work in social behavior change programming.
  • Experience working in humanitarian contexts, emergency and post-crisis, in all the steps of the Project Cycle Management.
  • Experience in Undernutrition Prevention or Health related humanitarian organization (country, region or headquarters).
  • Experience with humanitarian coordination mechanisms.
  • Experience, involvement in the development of guidance and promotion of tools and methodologies.
  • You are proficient in spoken and written English (having working knowledge of French, Spanish or Arabic desirable).
